Hyde Park Preservation
Hyde Park Preservation Inc. (HPPI) is your City of
recognized Tampa recognized Neighborhood Association and serves as your liaison with the City with
regard to various issues concerning the neighborhood. Among HPPI's many functions
is the preservation of our neighborhood's historical and architectural integrity.
Through our various committees, we review projects and re-zonings that are brought
before the ARC that might affect the neighborhood. HPPI also consults and works
with other neighborhood associations on matters that could potentially impact the
entire Hyde Park Historic District. HPPI has provided other important services such
as the design and installation of historic street signs and signposts.
Neighborhood safety is another important area of our concern. HPPI works with the
City on neighborhood traffic and speed control issues, as well as for special events
such as the Gasparilla Day Parade. HPPI played a key part in Mayor Pam Iorio's Bayshore
Safety Task Force this year. Additionally, HPPI oversees the Crime Watch program
and the
Evening Patrol (HELP). HELP, which is funded by separate resident dues, pays for off-duty police officers to patrol our streets in
the evenings and during special events.
HELP has a separate enclosure within this newsletter.
Lastly, HPPI sponsors a yearly Holiday Caroling event, an old-fashioned neighborhood
Spring Block Party, and is currently working on ideas for other new events.
HPPI's
President is Cindy Ramm.
